The Toronto Blue Jays continue to add depth pieces to the roster.
According to Sportsnet's Shi Davidi, the Blue Jays are in agreement with catcher Ali Sanchez on a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training.
Sanchez, 27, spent 2024 in the Miami Marlins and Chicago Cubs organizations. He appeared in 31 MLB games with Miami, posting a .167/.211/.190 slash line with two doubles.
In 48 triple-A games spent between the two franchises, Sanchez has a .672 OPS with three home runs.
Sanchez received solid blocking grades for his work behind the plate, per Baseball Savant.
A native of Carora, Venezuela, Sanchez has been playing pro baseball since 2014. He made his MLB debut with the New York Mets in 2020 and returned to the big leagues in 2021 with the St. Louis Cardinals.
